In a change from tradition, Greene County High School students held their homecoming coronation Friday afternoon on the courthouse plaza.
The students selected Branden Miller as homecoming king and Solana “Sunny” Mobley as homecoming queen. They were crowned by last year’s king and queen, Karlan Langfitt and Hannah Gunn.
The parade, which in recent years has been Thursday evening of Homecoming Week or Friday afternoon, preceded the coronation.
“Rounding Up the Cowbell” was the theme for homecoming events, and the Ram football team did just that. The football game against Perry for decades has been the “Battle of the Cowbell,” and the Rams claimed it with a 35-0 win.
The last homecoming event is a dance Saturday night at the Scranton Community Center hosted for the students by the Community Center board and Scranton Betterment.
